If You See This In A Store It’s Likely A GMO

Insidiously, GMOs have crept into our grocery stores and marketplaces over recent decades. At first very few noticed and sounded the alarms, but now a growing urgency has come to the matter as GMOs are everywhere in our lives and they are not being labeled as such.

It takes a strong educative effort really know what we are dealing with and the fact that more and more people are taking the important step to self-educate themselves speaks to the importance of the issue. This is a quick guide that names some products that are very likely genetically engineered if you encounter them by themselves or on your ingredients list. If you spot them in a store, be sure to check that they are NOT GMOs.

The first one is soy. It appears in so many processed foods and other products in our food supply. The shocking truth is that around ninety percent of all soybeans produced in the United States are genetically engineered. The degree of their alterations vary, but they all have one thing in common—they are immune to the damaging effects of a particular herbicide called RoundUp.

The effect is great for companies. They have managed to trap farmers in a loop of necessity. The use of RoundUp is so widespread that a farmer without it may suffer if there is runoff or an aberrant wind from another farmer who uses the product.

So the farmer is compelled to buy the genetically modified seeds, which enable him to pour this herbicide on his plants. Either way, farmers are compelled to get the GMO seeds and the herbicide which is a good and continuous revenue stream for the company that sells them.

It is, however, very bad news for us. We receive a plant that has been altered in opaque ways to the consumer and we receive a plant whose cells are filled with the chemicals that have been sprayed on them all their lives.

Any food that contains Aspartame ought to be viewed with utter suspicion. This is a chemical substance that has been forced on the consumer without their knowledge or consent. Aspartame is used as a replacement for sugar and it is an artificial sweetener. It was originally in products for those who could not consume normal sugars, due to a medical reason and its use has blossomed outwards ever since.

In a very real sense, this deadly product started in our most vulnerable populations and advanced to the healthiest among us. Aspartame is a product that is the byproduct of genetically engineered bacteria. Research has shown suspicious links between Aspartame use and cancer, but this research has been quieted. To be safe, make sure you avoid Aspartame like the plague.

Corn is another food product that is ubiquitous in our food supply and a large portion of the corn produced happens to be genetically modified. Estimates are as high as up to half of all the corn that US farms produce is GMO corn. This corn has been linked to organ disruption in lab tests as well as increased major tumor risks.

They also found weight gain to be one of the causes. The rise of these organisms shares an uncanny timing with the rise in the rates of obesity across America. When you go to buy food and you see corn as one of the listed ingredients, do your best to ensure that this corn was not genetically modified.

There are so many foods out there that can cause us harm because they are genetically modified. This list is hardly complete and it keeps growing as newer and more sinister products come in our groceries and marketplaces.
